4/29/2023 0 Comments Yeah heads will roll![]() ![]() Seemingly, forgetting at the same time the concealed truth about this fantasy place. Than Karen as one of the entertainers, yells "off with your head!" And instructs the masses to "dance till your dead", just loose control on the dance floor and use up all your energy for that one purpose till you die. ![]() "The men cry out, the girls cry" cheering for the entertainer or replacement saviour, as we often idolize stars more than we do real religious figures. She repeats this lyric twice this toward the end and it sounds like she's accusing the people "you're all dead." "You're all cold/you're all chrome" suggesting you're hard on the outside and empty/lifeless on the inside. Meaning this world is all dirty, it's a lie. However when she says "the glitter's all wet" and the "river's all wet", it sounds like, it's all wet from blood or.it's all mucked up, because later on in the video the glitter which was originally silver (on the drums) becomes red when the people get chopped up. The wolf in particular is their key entertainer, king of kings in the music industry = Michael Jackson.Īnd this mystical world is painted in "glitter" and "silver", seems very nice and dandy at first. They're part of the same kingdom/music industry. Notice her outfit resembles that of the Queen of Hearts, all red, as is the wolf's shoes. Going to venture that Karen is an entertainer for the 'kingdom,' as is the wolf aka MJ. Apart from those slight things, it works magically.General CommentHm okay going to borrow some thoughts here, definitely seeing the Alice theme. More development of the story is needed, as well as making it a little more relatable to the music video. How can anyone not love this music video? It's pure genius, even if it is a little too simplistic for my liking. The ending sees the band murdered in red glitter, but Karen O continues singing. It isn't long until he becomes blood hungry and chases the audience, ripping them apart as red confetti pours out of the bodies. He struts towards the stage when we realise he's actually a werewolf. We watch the band perform, they're energetic and enthralling, but then a dancer appears. The story is easy enough to follow, and what seems to be a performance piece easily turns into a narrative which is such a simplistic engaging move. I love that they have used red glitter and confetti as blood, and the conclusion of Karen O continually singing whilst being decapitated is epically original. This song was written by Brian Chase, Karen Orzolek and Nick Zinner.ĭirected by Richard Ayoade, the music video uses comedic horror which allows for a humorous scary music video. Although, their highest charting single was in 2003 with "Date With The Night". This is probably their most known song, regardless of it only reaching number 89 on the UK Chart, it managed to place on other charts around the world too. ![]() They have had moderate success in the UK, both single wise and album wise. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a three-piece American indie band consisting of Karen Orzolek, Nick Zinner and Brian Chase. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs perform "Heads Will Roll" in front of a small audience, as a dancing werewolf finds its way on to the stage who later rips into everyone, rolling heads everywhere. This haunting song didn't do so well on the charts, but it is still an iconic haunting track. It totally deserves to be a part of my Halloween Special. Now it's become a global sensation and definitely a song to feature on all Halloween playlists. To be totally honest, I wasn't aware of this song until the Glee Cast covered it in a mash-up with Michael Jackson's "Thriller". ![]()
